6. Getting Your Academic Credentials Recognized in Canada

1:30 - 2:30
Room: Berton 2
Nancy Millward, World Education Services

An evaluation is your passport to employment and education. Whether you are pursuing employment in Canada, professional licensing, entrance to apprenticeship training or further education, an evaluation by World Education Services (WES) will make sure your international academic credentials are understood and recognized.

In this workshop you will learn whether your profession is regulated in Ontario, and if so, the contact information for your regulatory body. WES' current and emerging relationships with individual regulatory bodies will be outlined.

Individual reasons for obtaining credentials will be discussed, with the focus on obtaining a WES credential report as an employment tool. By examining a credential report, you will see how this tool enables employers to understand the equivalency of your international credentials, facilitating their ability to hire, pay and promote all applicants equitably.

The seminar concludes with information about how to apply, the two types of credential reports and the cost of each, and the timing to obtain a report.
